The Ekiti Amotekun Corps has apprehended and paraded two suspects, Adeniyi Oluwafemi, 23 and
Ogunsakin Abdulazeez for attempting to murder a teenager, Osigba God-first for ritual.
The suspect revealed that one herbalist, Ogunsakin Abdulaziz, 53, told him to bring human flesh for ritual.
According to the 18 years old victim, Osigba God-first, she was on her way to church on Sunday, November 27, 2022 when the suspect accosted her and attempted to kill her for ritual.
“I was rushing to church on Sunday morning when the suspect tapped me saying he is greeting me, then he dragged me back inside the bush and wanted to use a knife to cut my throat, then I held the knife in my hand, was struggling with him and started shouting.
“That was when people came to rescue me from him, and then he ran away.”
The Commander of Ekiti Amotekun Corps, Brigadier-General Joel Komolafe who confirmed the incident during the parade of the suspects on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti said the suspects were arrested following reports from the victims family.
In his words: “We had a report at our Ado local government office that some ritualists wanted to kill one lady who was going to church, so we went there.
“Luckily for her, she was not killed and the guy who attempted to kill her confessed that sometimes ago, he wanted to get rich quickly and a ‘babalawo’ told him to bring human flesh.
“So, he had always observed the lady passing through the place to church everyday, so before daybreak, as the lady was on her way to church on Sunday, he came out from the bush with a knife wanting to slit her throat but she was able to struggle with him and shouted.
“Then her younger brother who was following behind ran back home and that’s how they came to report to us at Amotekun and we arrested him.
“Getting here, he told us that it was the herbalist that told him that he should bring human flesh for the ritual for money, so the herbalist was also arrested.”
He also revealed that two other suspected kidnappers were arrested over the weekend for collecting ransom and still killing their victim.
“They kidnapped the man in Kajola Area and still killed him even after collecting ransom. We were able to arrest two of the suspects and recovered the weapons they used in killing the man.
“We have however handed them to the police as the law states and they have been taken to the court. The police have also been able to arrest one of them that escaped. He said.
The Commandant also charged Ekiti resident to be vigilant in the face of insecurity bedeviling the state and the Nation at large.
“I want people at home to be very vigilant, things are not going well in the country now, people want to make money at all cost, they want to do everything at all cost too.” He said.
