…constitutes public speaking club

Corps members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Editorial CDS Group, on Thursday, sensitized students in Ekiti State on the art of public speaking and reading culture.

The one-day sensitization programme which held at Winners College Adebayo, Ado-Ekiti had the theme: “The Art of Creativity Through Public Speaking.”



In his welcome address, the Proprietor, Adeyemo Tobi, charged the students to utilise the opportunity that abounds in mastery the art of public speaking noting that the students should channel their resources towards effective reading culture.

Also, the Editorial CDS President, Oham Precious urged the students to maximize the benefits that comes with public speaking in their quest to attain greater heights in their academic sojourn.

In their separate presentations on the topics, corps member Hannah Ekpah, who doubles as the Vice-President exposed the students on the various importance of public speaking which includes: to persuade, motivate, enlighten, among others.

Similarly, corps member Olawumi Ayobami spoke to the children on the subject: “Re- Awakening the Reading Culture among Students” where he pointed that reading should not only be done for the purpose of passing an exam but should be cultivated as a lifestyle.

The event also witnessed presentation on the Freedom of Information Act by corps member Samuel Olakunle, who spoke on the bridge between public institutions and how the masses can access free information.

Highlights of the event was a Spelling Bee Competition, where winners emerged from the Junior and Senior Secondary levels and gifts presented accordingly while the Public Speaking Club was constituted.
