A 33-year-old man identified as Akindele Opeyemi Olufemi, who was arrested for stealing 620,115 naira Church Offering has said he does not know what came over.
The suspect who was a security guard at the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Ikeji, Arakeji, until March when he resigned before his arrest on his way to Ekiti said this to Newsmen on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti.
In his words: “I have never stolen any money before in my life and I’ve never written any statement before. I don’t know what pushed me to steal from a church. It was like I was being brainwashed.”
He also disclosed that he is a graduate with a diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and also have a farm with parents in the State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, stating that “he was apprehended at a check point during a routine stop and search.”
