Morocco have become the first African team ever to reach the World Cup semi-finals after defeating Portugal by one goal to none.

After a tame opening forty minutes, the game stepped up another level when Youssef En-Nesyri climbed highest in the box, beating Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa in the air and headed the ball into the back of the net.

Bruno Fernandes nearly levelled before the break, sending a shot crashing against the bar. Yahia Attiyat Allah then sent a shot just wide of the net after breaking through on goal.

Morocco will go on to take on the winners of World Cup quater-final between England and France in wednesday’s semi-final.

Portugal go home after their elimination.
