The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council has disclaimed the membership of one Abimbola Olajumoke Olawuni, who parades herself as a Female Journalist and blackmailing notable individuals in the State.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Union, she is neither a member of NUJ nor National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).

The Union added that she is not also working or reporting for any recognised Media Organisation in the State.

The Union portrays her as a Politician who served under the government of former Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The statement reads, “The attention of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Ekiti State Council has been drawn to one Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi, parading herself as a female journalist in Ekiti State and blackmailing high profile personalities.

“The council wishes to state emphatically that the said Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi is neither a member of NUJ nor the female organ of the union which is NAWOJ.

“The self-acclaimed journalist is not also working nor reporting for any recognized media organization in Ekiti State.

“Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi is only known to be a politician who served under the government of Ayodele Fayose and notable for posting opinionated statements on her social media handles, particularly, Facebook which did not in any way qualifies her as a journalist.

“Members of the public, security agents, institutions and cooperate bodies are hereby alerted by this statement.”
