The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Dr. D.H Oladebeye has urged scientists in the country to arise at this crucial time of the economic crisis and channel their energy towards utilizing the power of science to facilitate economic recovery in all areas.

He said this on Monday at the opening ceremony of the School of Science and Computer Studies (SSCS) 8th biennial Internal conference with a theme: “Scientist’s roles for sustainable economic recovery in post COVID-19 era”, held at the conference hall of the school auditorium.

Dr. Oladebeye also added that COVID-19 has affected everyone including the economy and the seasoned scientists of our time.

He also noted that scientists should rise up on their roles for economy recovery.

In his words: “Nigeria economy for a while has been laden with several challenges ranging from unemployment, rural and urban poverty, faulty educational system, insecurity.

“There is need for full and sustainable recovery of the economy as this will go a long way in enhancing good living for the citizens.”

On his part, the Dean, School of Science and Computer Studies, Mr. S.O. Osanyinlusi urged all participants to come up with ideas, suggestions and recommendations that will address economic misfortunes associated with COVID-19 pandemic.
